Firm warns NDRC antitrust swoop on price fixing just the beginning

Aswoop in January by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) targeting price monopolies has led one antitrust specialist firm to warn of more aggressive take-downs to come this year.

The NDRC fined companies from South Korea and Taiwan a total of RMB353 million (US$56.2 million) for monopolistic price-fixing on liquid crystal display (LCD) panels in early January.

LCDs“NDRC is advancing aggressively to combat the price monopoly,” John Yong Ren, the managing partner at T&D Associates in Beijing, told China Business Law Journal. The commission investigated 35 cartel and resale price maintenance (RPM) cases in January.
