British law firm outsources to India

British law firm CMS Cameron McKenna signed a US$20 million deal with Indian outsourcing company HCL in Chennai to reorganize its IT operations.

CMS Cameron McKenna is a full service corporate law firm based in London and linked to CMS, the alliance of major independent European law firms. CMS’s activities are coordinated through a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) registered in Brussels.

As a result of the outsourcing deal the law firm announced that it would be almost halving its British IT staff, from 70 to 40, with 20 being laid off and 10 moving to HCL.

HCL will be responsible for CMS Cameron McKenna’s data-centre support, network, security and managed desktop services and application development, support and management.
