Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co (SAM) represented Alt Digital Media Entertainment on 26 February when Telangana High Court vacated an ex-parte injunction order restraining it from releasing a reality show the following day.
Pride Media and four others had alleged copyright infringement when the ex-parte injunction was granted on 23 February against the release of ‘Lock Upp’.
SAM’s team was led by partner Anuj Berry and included principal associate Aditya Malhotra and associates Rohit Iyengar and Anuj Loya. Senior counsel S Ravi appeared for Alt Digital Media Entertainment.
Allowing the appeal, the high court noted that an ex-parte injunction can only be granted in cases where the object of granting the injunction would be defeated by the delay in giving notice to the other side.
