After 25 years of life as a corporate lawyer, Bijesh Thakker, the managing partner at Thakker & Thakker, has announced that his practice will come to a close at the end of the year. Thakker’s decision is rooted in his passion for philanthropy and his desire to dedicate himself entirely to charitable projects.

“For me, the burning desire to do philanthropy has been long-standing,” Thakker told India Business Law Journal.
Over the last decade, he has supported charities such as REAP – Reach Education Action Programme – which combats child illiteracy in India. He has also set up Sushma Medicinal & Ayurvedic Research Trust (SMART), an educational charitable trust designed to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the natural environment and resource conservation through educational programmes and services.
