Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is preparing to defend itself in a court battle in California, after employees alleged the IT company was wrongfully deducting money from their salaries. The lawsuit has been granted class action status by US district judge Claudia Wilken in Oakland.
TCS, a subsidiary of Tata, provides IT and remote infrastructure services, along with knowledge-based services such as consulting and business process outsourcing.
It has been accused by the employees – current and former Indian nationals who are not US citizens – of deducting US federal and state tax refund amounts and Indian salary amounts from their US wages.
