Saint Gobain, a European company that markets, designs, manufactures and distributes building materials, has gained approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for its proposed acquisition of Shree Ram Electro Cast (SREL). The purchase includes the ductile pipe business of SREL’s parent company, Electrotherm India.
The CCI received a notification about Saint Gobain’s proposal on 9 January and approved the acquisition on 16 February.
J Sagar Associates advised Saint Gobain on its pre-merger filing. The team comprised partners Farhad Sorabjee and Amitabh Kumar, senior associate Reeti Choudhary and associates Gautam Shahi, Divya Chaturvedi and Arti Raghavan.
