Dear Madam,
I refer to the rather interesting article on foreign law firms in your December/January issue (Verdict due on foreign law firms). I firmly believe that foreign legal practitioners (FLPs) should be allowed into India, yet I find your article presents a one-sided picture.
At an international conference in Delhi this year, I heard the views of the law minister, HR Bhardwaj, who literally urged Indian lawyers and the Bar Council of India to allow FLPs, especially from the US, to practise in India.
The majority of attendees at this conference were lawyers (both private practitioners and in-house counsel) from the US and India.
