KR Modi, a senior partner and 40-year veteran of Kanga & Co in Mumbai, has announced that he is retiring from the firm for health reasons.
“Over the last 40 years, I have interacted with a lot of peers and colleagues both from within Kanga & Co and other law firms,” he told India Business Law Journal. “I wish to express my happiness in dealing with them.”
Discussing the changes he has witnessed over the last four decades of practise, Modi said the legal fraternity had blossomed from a handful of law firms into a burgeoning market. “The Indian legal market has become immensely competitive and the era of specialization has set in,” he said. “The era of specialization coupled with the advancement of technology provides clients the benefit of completing transactions efficiently in minimum possible time.”
