Milbank has appointed Sanjeet Malik as of counsel in the firm’s Hong Kong office in a bid to enhance its M&A practice in Asia. Malik will help coordinate Milbank’s India practice, as well as handle a variety of cross-border corporate and financing transactions for clients based in Asia. He joins the firm from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he has worked since 2001.
Malik specializes in cross-border M&A, private equity and restructuring. He recently advised on a leveraged buyout of one of the largest multi-brand retail chains in India and has also represented private equity firm TPG Capital on deals in India and Southeast Asia.
Talking to India Business Law Journal, Malik said, “Unlike many other international firms that have adopted a ‘wait and see’ policy towards India, Milbank continues to devote significant resources to support its India practice.”
