Our services

Kojima Law Offices was founded in 1984 and primarily handles international commercial transactions and dispute resolution cases, including commercial contracts, strategic alliances, investments, IP law, general corporate law, and litigation.

We distinguish ourselves from other Japanese law firms in three main ways. First, we strike an ideal balance between size and capability. Large firms can’t always offer the personalised service that our firm does, while small firms lack our ability to handle larger deals and cases.

Second, although some firms claim to be “international”, our founder designed the firm to be international from the ground up. While many firms set up distinct teams to separately handle international cases, all our lawyers dedicate themselves to performing international work in addition to domestic cases. Moreover, we employ three native-English speaking lawyers licensed in the US, which is rare for a mid-sized Japanese firm.

Third, some firms are content to simply answer their clients’ specific legal questions. For clients to succeed in Japan, however, their lawyers need to be exceedingly proactive. That’s why we strive to anticipate problems before they occur and ensure that our legal counsel combines the law with real-world, practical advice.
