Gauri Rasgotra has returned to Khaitan & Co as a partner in its New Delhi office after a two-year break from the firm. Rasgotra originally joined Khaitan in 2004 and headed its litigation practice until May 2006.
Between April 2007 and June 2009 she worked at George Washington University Law School in Washington as head of the institution’s India Studies Center. She was responsible for developing and managing the centre’s portfolio of activities, including conferences and seminars on legal issues pertaining to India and the US and reports on current issues of law.

The formal launch of the centre was marked by a day-long conference in March, “Emerging India: Rights and Responsibilities”, which attracted top lawyers and academics from the US and India and was addressed by senior counsel Fali Nariman, member of the Indian parliament Abhishek Singhvi and senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
