Kachwaha & Partners has awarded the first prize in its Arb Excel All India Essay Writing Competition to Ridhi Kabra of Hyderabad’s NALSAR University of Law. The competition, which invited articles on arbitration from fourth and final year law students in India, was designed to stimulate interest in arbitration and foster its growth and development.
A total of 68 essays were submitted from 1-18 March. The students had over three months to work on their articles.

Kabra won ₹100,000 (US$1,800) for her essay on international commercial arbitration, which addressed whether an arbitral tribunal has the inherent power to ask for the removal of a party’s counsel whose participation is found to be detrimental to a fair adjudication of the dispute.
