Indochine Counsel acts for EQuest

Vietnamese law firm Indochine Counsel advises the country’s largest private education group, EQuest, in raising USD120 million through a combination of debt from creditors and equity from American global investment company KKR’s Global Impact Fund.

Partner Ngu Truong Huu led Indochine Counsel’s team in Ho Chi Minh City, which comprised associate Cong Le Thanh and junior associate Vu Pham Hoang.

EQuest will use the investment to fuel its expansion of educational initiatives, primarily to support its units, including the Canadian International School (CIS) in Ho Chi Minh City and the expansion of Broward College Vietnam campuses in Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City.

EQuest has a diverse range of investments in the education sector of Vietnam, with a primary focus on four key segments, namely bilingual K-12 schools, vocational and tertiary institutions, English language enrichment courses, and digital learning solutions. Its K-12 portfolio caters to more than 9,000 students at eight campuses.
