HK association grows as in-house role changes

Organisations are increasingly seeing their general counsel as an essential business partner, a trusted adviser and the moral compass of the organisation. This magnifies the importance and prominence of the in-house role, and perhaps explains why some senior partners from reputable firms leave their practices to take up general counsel roles, and some are even beginning to occupy seats on boards of their organisations.

The Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association (HKCCA) can attest to this shift. The continued growth of our membership is a testament to our contribution and relevance to the in-house counsel community, in Hong Kong and beyond. We now boast over 800 members and that number keeps growing.

In addition to excellent delivery of continuing professional education programmes and soft skills necessary to excel in a company setting to its members, the HKCCA also has strengthened its partnership with international in-house organisations, with the formalization of the HKCCA’s membership in In-House Counsel Worldwide (ICW), which has a mandate to “unite the global in-house legal community, for the benefit of all in-house counsel, their organisations and the profession, through co-operation and collaboration”. The ICW brings together in-house associations from various parts of the world to collaborate, share best practices, and give a stronger and more united global voice to the in-house legal profession.
