A vast majority of large Indian law firms favour the entry of foreign law firms, an India Business Law Journal survey has found. The Journal surveyed a wide cross section of Indian law firms and corporate counsel across the country to arrive at its results.
Among the respondents, 72% said they supported the entry of foreign firms into the domestic legal market while 21% remain undecided. A small minority of 7% opposed the entry.
Most respondents said they would not be affected by the entry of foreign firms, which would most likely focus on serving large corporate clients in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate deals.
