International law firm DLA Piper has appointed two new India-focused partners, Benjamin Parameswaran and Daniel Sharma. Parameswaran joins from Hengeler Mueller, while Sharma comes to DLA from the independent German firm Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. The two lawyers will co-head the firm’s India Group in continental Europe.

Sharma said that his decision to move was based on opportunities presented by DLA rather than drawbacks at Heuking. “Heuking is a good firm, but the offer from DLA was just too attractive and appealing,” he told India Business Law Journal. “Having done India-related business for a couple of years now, I realize it’s better to be part of a large law firm and have a very big network.”
Sharma also worked with Clifford Chance for five years in Frankfurt and Brussels, handling India-related matters in both jurisdictions.
