CITIC Capital Partners have entered into an agreement that the Chinese private equity firm will lead a private investor consortium to acquire AsiaInfo-Linkage, a NASDAQ-listed telecoms company with primary operations in China.

Lawyers involved see Chinese private equity funds’ interest in take-private deals of Chinese companies listed in the US increasing. “The valuation discount on US-listed Chinese companies given by the US markets, together with the potential to partner with the management of market-leading Chinese companies, will continue to make these deals attractive business opportunities for China-based private equity firms,” Douglas Freeman, a corporate partner at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson in Hong Kong, told China Business Law Journal.
Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson represented Goldman Sachs (Asia) as financial advisers to the special committee of AsiaInfo-Linkage.
