Introduction
David KY Tang is managing partner, Asia, at K&L Gates LLP. His law practice concentrates in the areas of foreign investments, cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions, and real property-related transactions. Tang has more than 30 years of transactional experience in the Greater China market. From 1995 to 1999, Tang was managing partner at Preston Gates & Ellis LLP, a predecessor law firm to the formation of K&L Gates LLP. Euromoney’s Guide to Leading Practitioners lists him as one of the pre-eminent practitioners in M&A in China and real property. He is also included in the Best Lawyers and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers for Corporate Law and Real Estate Law.
Among his other activities, Tang is on the Council of The American Law Institute, the boards of the Blakemore Foundation and the National Bureau of Asia Research. He is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations and was a former chair of the Anglo-American Real Property Institute and American Bar Foundation. Tang served on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2002 to 2008 and as its chair from 2006 to 2008. He currently chairs the American Bar Association Task force on Trade in International Legal Services.
Tang’s primary practice is corporate/M&A and his secondary practices are corporate governance, payment systems, real estate, resort, hospitality and leisure, technology, non-governmental organizations and policy.
