Introduction
Ma Chenguang is managing partner of Co-effort Law Firm. In 18 years of lawyering experience, Ma has achieved successful self-improvement, from real estate to PE/VC, trusts, banking and other asset management legal service, and has made great breakthroughs in dispute resolution.
Ma has dealt with many innovative transaction projects and complicated dispute resolution cases, including a bilateral-level cross-border investment project, the M&A project for the grounding in Shanghai of China Bond’s second headquarters, disputes over VAM agreements, fund withdrawing, responsibilities of fund managing and fund custodian entity, and disputes in the passageway business of trusts. The disputed amounts in these cases is huge, and in the application of law in disputes Ma has achieves great benefit for clients, and some of the cases are widely noted and referred.
Ma has devoted years of experience and research in the development of alternative dispute resolution, and in optimisation of the environment of doing business. In the past two years, Ma has judged and resolved about 50 disputes of finance and asset management as an arbitrator of Shanghai Arbitration Commission and Shanghai International Arbitration Centre.
As the director of fund commission of Shanghai Bar Association, and a representative of Shanghai Pudong District People’s Congress, Ma has led and participated in hundreds of public projects, such as leading and drafting the legal service instructions of a fund for Shanghai lawyers, raising proposals such as optimising finance disputes judgments, and participating in a public interest actions supervision project. Ma has been appraised as an “Oriental Barrister, Shanghai March 8th Red-banner pace-setter”, an ALB top female lawyer in 2017, and a Chambers Band 1 lawyer (east coast) of Corporate/Commercial for her professional excellence and contribution to public welfare.
