Introduction

Gao Qiang is one of the founding partners of Jilin Gongcheng Law Firm. With more than 20 years of experience in practising law, he specialises in private equity, investment and financing, M&A, corporate compliance, capital market and dispute resolution.

Gao is currently legal counsel for the Jilin provincial government and Changchun municipal government, and has been advising a number of listed companies, large financial institutions, state-owned enterprises and industrial groups covering a wide range of industries including banking, insurance, securities, energy, automobile, technology, media, tourism and food manufacturing.

Gao is skilled at representing complicated commercial disputes. He represented China Everbright Bank’s Changchun branch in its objection to jurisdiction of entrustment contract dispute with China Merchants Bank’s Wuxi branch. As a representative case in the field of objection to jurisdiction, it has been selected into the Gazette of the Supreme People’s Court.

With extensive experience in private equity and capital markets, Gao has been a leading counsel in many influential deals including Jilin Jiutai Rural Commercial Bank’s H-share IPO, the second Chinese-funded rural commercial bank in China to be listed on Hong Kong stock market; and the more than RMB10 billion private equity fund formation of Jilin Province Private Equity.

Gao is highly recognised by clients for his outstanding professionalism. He currently serves as deputy chief supervisor of the Jilin Lawyers Association and is vice chairman of the Changchun Lawyers Association. In 2018, he was ranked as one of the Client Choice Top 20 Lawyers in China by Asian Legal Business.
