Introduction

Wei Qingsong, commercial litigator and commissioner of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Special Supervisor of the Supreme People’s Court, Arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), has more than 20 years of legal practice experience and used to practice at Hong Kong Office of Baker & McKenzie. Wei has represented many Fortune 500 companies from Europe and the US in a great number of commercial and IP cases in the Supreme People’s Court, several higher courts, CIETAC, SHIAC and HKIAC.

Wei handled a transnational commercial secret case that has been running for 18 years, successfully winning the first instance, and his claim that the protection of trade secrets shall not extend to cover the products is confirmed by Supreme People’s Court as a judicial principle. The second instance is currently being tried at the Supreme People’s Court.
