Baker McKenzie has promoted Ilona Millar, a Sydney-based climate change partner, as global head of climate change.
A specialist of more than 20 years in climate law and finance, Millar’s expertise includes the development of law and policy, and its implementation for both governments and the private sector. Her experience also extends to complex multi-jurisdictional transactions, as well as the development of innovative responses to climate change and sustainability problems.
Millar has worked on the development of carbon contracts, carbon funds and carbon transactions in both the compliance and voluntary markets. She also advises on natural sinks and forest-based carbon transactions, as well as geological sequestration and the legal frameworks for carbon capture and storage. More recently, she has been working on exploring the role of hydrogen in transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
