Daryl Lai is a senior partner in JTJB-Taipei. He graduated with LLB (Hons) from the University of London; LLM from Nottingham Trent University; and Leeds Beckett University. He also has a graduate diploma in international mergers and acquisitions. He is currently a postgraduate researcher at the University of Reading. Daryl’s responsibility in JTJB-Taipei takes him across a variety of legal disciplines. This would include advice given to the Asian subsidiary of a US underwater cable company on the sale of major corporate assets in Taiwan and the merger of two major accounting firms in the island. Daryl has also acted for the Taiwanese petroleum company, CPC, in a number of major contractual disputes with offshore vendors. He acted for a very prominent Asian government in the sale of landed assets in Taiwan. He has also advised Southeast Asian government-owned airlines in setting up a business presence in the Taiwan market. He advised one of the richest Taiwanese American billionaires in the US in a cross-border family dispute that ultimately resulted in the redistribution of a sizable personal wealth. He has also advised a famous Asian singer-songwriter on licensing rights in the country. On the shipping and transportation side, Daryl was involved in legal work on the infamous SQ006 air crash at Taoyuan Airport. He has also handled various financing and corporate acquisitions for one of the largest ship owners in Taiwan. He was previously involved in a number of high-profile cases, which includes the MT Chang Yun (one of the widest marine oil pollutions in Taiwanese maritime history) and the MV Maersk Dubai (which sparked off international attention regarding charges of murder on the high seas drawn against the Taiwanese officers of a major container line). He is, to date, the only lawyer in Taiwan who has arbitrated in London on shipping matters for local clients. He is also the only lawyer in Taiwan capable of conducting an offshore maritime casualty investigation. Daryl is the author of the fourth, fifth, and sixth editions of the Taiwan Chapter of the Shipping Law Review – ISBN Publication No. 978-1-910813-652. | Lee Chung-Teh is a renowned legal professional who has established himself as an expert in various legal domains, including dispute resolution, construction projects, cross-border transactions, M&A, biotech industry-related matters and more. Lee boasts an impressive educational background, having earned an LLM and JSD from UC Berkeley Law School in 1981 and 1986, respectively. And he previously obtained his LLB degree from National Taiwan University in 1977. His extensive experience and expertise have made him a respected figure in the legal community, successfully handling various projects and cases. These include representing companies in the semiconductor industry, search engine companies, and social media companies relating to data centres and data privacy issues. Moreover, he has also assisted with legal matters for harbour development and offshore wind power projects, acted in arbitration cases for petrochemical companies and software licensing issues, and advised on competition law matters for a Korean electronics company. In addition, he has provided legal advice and representation for various other companies in the areas, including but not limited to mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiations and disputes, human resources, and employment law issues. Lee has recently received recognition as a senior statespeople in the 2022 Greater China Region rankings by Chambers and Partners for his work in the technology, media, and telecoms industry. And he is currently in the intellectual property rights. committee co-chair of the European Chambers of Commerce Taiwan. In addition to his legal career, Lee played a key role in establishing the Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders in 1999 and served as its founding chairman for six years. |

| Jaclyn Tsai, the co-founder of Lee Tsai & Partners, is a highly experienced professional with an impressive private and public background. After obtaining her LLB from National Taiwan University, her career began as a district court judge from 1982 to 1991. After that, she worked as IBM’s general counsel in Taiwan for four years and later was promoted to lead the Greater China region from 1995 to 1998.
Her expertise lies in technology law, with extensive experience in various industries. She has in-depth knowledge of information and communication technologies, semiconductors, fintech (including blockchain, non-fungible tokens, decentralised finance, game finance, stablecoin, central bank digital currency, and cryptocurrencies), smart city-related fields (including artificial intelligence, telecoms, and the data economy), biotechnology, personal data protection, privacy, and the Fair Trade Act. Jaclyn also has significant experience in intellectual property and digital assets, as well as investment and M&A. Additionally, she is well-versed in labour law, including issues related to remote work, non-compete agreements, and trade secrets. She has recently been named the “Expert Panel 2022” by The Law Reviews. In 2013, Jaclyn was appointed Minister without Portfolio in the Executive Yuan (cabinet) and became one of the few female ministers in the government. During her tenure, she played a vital role in reforming laws relating to virtual world development, e-commerce, the shared economy, digital convergence, the startup environment, open data, and the maker movement, among other inter-ministry affairs. After completing her term in the government, Jaclyn returned to the firm in 2016 and now holds the position of chairperson of the Taiwan Fintech Association and the honourary founding chairwoman of the Taiwan Women on Boards Association.
