Introduction
Nguyen Dang Viet has practised law since 2000 and is regarded as among the best in Vietnam. He heads Bizconsult Law Firm as the managing partner with his decades of experience in major areas of practices in corporate and commercial, M&A, banking & finance, real estate, construction, litigation, labour and employment.
Viet completed the training course in International Merger & Acquisition, the College of Law of England and Wales, the UK (2007). He did LLM at the Transnational Law & Business University (TLBU), Seoul, Korea (2006), where he had field studies at International organisations (TLBU Institute in Paris, WTO & WIPO in Geneva, ICC & ICJ in Hague, the EU Commission in Brussels). In 1999, he completed LLB at Hanoi Law University. Viet was admitted to Hanoi Bar.
In the span of his career, he has represented clients in a wide spectrum of regions and industries, including real estate development, hydro and thermal power plants, construction, pulp and paper production, logistics, securities, insurance, banking, F&B etc. His clients include multinational corporations such as Chemonics International (US), Dunkin Brands (US), Papa John (US), Daewoo E&C (Korea), Samsung E&C (Korea), Posco E&C (Korea), Hyundai E&C (Korea), Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering (Japan), Sojitz (Japan), Petronas (Malaysia), Qatar Airlines (Qatar), Total (France), Capitaland (Singapore), Gamuda Land (Malaysia), ANZ Bank, UOB (Singapore), UNDP, etc. and other major corporations in Vietnam.
Viet is an active contributor to legal developments in Vietnam and published dozens of articles commenting on the legal provisions of Vietnam and recommendations for developments. Articles published on international and regional newspapers and publishing houses, such as Asian Counsel Magazines, Asia Law & Practice Magazines, Vietnam News, Vietnam Investment Review, etc. Viet contributed to “Legal Environment for Business Development Services in Vietnam”, published in 2004 by GTZ SME Project, and “Contract Laws”, published in 2009 by GTZ and the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam. He is a long term contributor to the research on the Vietnam chapter for the publication “Doing Business” published annually by the World Bank.
