The Indian government and the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) are holding talks on whether the PCA will be allowed to launch operations in India.
It is expected that if the arbitration court is allowed to operate it will be set up in the capital, New Delhi.
Delhi has been selected apparently because there is a swell in disputes because of globalization and investments by multinationals in the South Asia region, TK Viswanathan, secretary for legal affairs at the Ministry of Law and Justice, told the Press Trust of India.
