Hong Kong
A full agenda of events hosted by the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Hong Kong recently in association with firms and consultants covered disputes, diligence and corporate governance with solid attendances from members.

Terence Wong, a partner based in Winston & Strawn’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices, presented at a breakfast seminar on 28 June entitled “Same Bed Different Dreams”: How to handle joint venture disputes in the PRC, in which he discussed strategies on managing joint ventures and related disputes in China. As he explained, one of the strategies often adopted by international companies entering China is to form a joint venture with local Chinese companies. However, it is never easy to manage a joint venture in China, given the difference in background, culture, and ways of doing business.
Walkers hosted a seminar for members on 27 June entitled HK-listed, offshore-incorporated – Shareholders at war. Timothy Haynes (partner), Regina Fan (counsel) and Stuart D’Addona (senior associate) discussed shareholder and management disputes involving Hong Kong-listed, offshore-incorporated companies.
